How does it work?

PowerShift Qualified Appliance Replacement is designed to help residential customers, who meet income eligibility requirements, replace select older, inefficient household appliances with newer, more energy-efficient models. It also includes the costs of installation of several energy-saving products. 


Together, these appliances and products help households better manage their energy use and save on monthly utility bills. It is designed to assist eligible limited-income families in reducing their utility costs by replacing qualifying appliances with brand-new energy-efficient appliances and providing additional products to reduce power consumption and reduce the cost of utilities.

Eligibility for Qualified Appliance Replacement

  1. Must be an NV Energy residential customer who owns or rents their home.
  2. Qualifying appliances to be replaced, such as a refrigerator and an electric dryer, must be a minimum of 10 years old. Visit Appliance411 to determine the age of your appliance. The model number and serial number will be needed. 
  3. Renters must be able to provide the property owner’s written permission.
  4. Must meet income eligibility requirements or participate in at least one of the eligible public assistance programs listed below.

Household Size

To determine your household size, include:

  • yourself (and if married, your spouse);
  • the number of children who will receive more than half of their support from you during this calendar year. You may include any unborn children if they will be born during the year; and
  • the number of people (not your children or spouse) who live with you and receive more than half of their support.

You may also qualify if you or someone in your home participates in at least one of the eligible public assistance programs listed below:

Process

  1. Check that you meet all eligibility requirements as described in the  Eligibility for Qualified Appliance Replacement section above.
  2. Complete and submit the application form with all supporting documents.
  3. A PowerShift Energy Advisor may contact you for additional verification. A pre-inspection is available to help verify the age of your equipment.
  4. Once qualified, a PowerShift Energy Advisor will contact you and provide your control number. You may use it as a reference for inquiries.
  5. The energy-efficient products (e.g. LED light bulbs, advanced power strip, and dusk-to-dawn,  lighting control) which you qualify for will then be shipped to you. Instructions will be provided on how to install and use them.
  6. You will then be contacted within 7 business days by our installer to schedule the installation of the appliances for which you qualify.
  7. You will receive an automated message to remind you the day before your delivery. 
  8. Our installer will come on the scheduled day to install your new appliances and take your old ones for recycling. They will call you 30 minutes before arrival to let you know they are on the way.
  9. An inspection may be performed in your home after installation to see if the contractor has completed the work to meet standards. If the work is not done properly, it will be redone at no cost to you.

FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions)

Question: Where do I find the serial number on my refrigerator or dryer?

Answer: The model/serial number of refrigerators is usually located on the inside of the door at the top right side (top left for some models). The model/serial number of the dryer is usually located on the frame of the dryer after opening the door.

Question: How can I check the age of my appliance?

Answer: Collect the serial number for your refrigerator and/or dryer as described in the answer above. Using this information, you can visit appliance411.com to determine the age of your appliance. 

Question: Is there a warranty for the newly installed appliances?

Answer: Yes,  your new appliance(s) comes with a 1-year warranty from the date of  delivery. Additional warranties for three and five years can be  purchased separately within the first 30 days of installation. 

Question: How can I verify that the field employee is approved by NV Energy?

Answer: The technician will be in uniform and represent the following company:
